Nikon D700 and D600, the second part of the comparison. 14 September 2012

In the summer I had the opportunity to get closely acquainted with Zeissovim portrait Zeiss Planar T * 85mm f/1.4 F.2. Tag F.2 means that the lens has a built-in electronic contacts, which transmit pułka data to the camera. pułka The lens works like any modern AF lens for Nikon DSLR cameras, but it does not have automatic focus. Impressive piece of iron, it could be described. Mechanically the lens is well above the modern AF lenses, mainly due to the extremely precise operation focus ring and of special materials that are embedded in the lens. Leeway focus ring is very much welcomed by those who are engaged in recording video, where manual focusing almost a necessity. But I was more interested in how this lens, which cost us around at 1160 EUR, works in terms of optical quality. For comparison I took almost 800 EUR cheaper Nikon 85mm f1.8G that I use myself and I serve as a reference in terms of quality of sharpness pułka and contrast.
I will not be too long I'll write a summary and explanation of the images below. Zeiss Planar T * 85mm f1.4 F.2 otherwise pleasantly pułka impressed with the quality of workmanship and mechanics, and optical properties but I was expecting something more from the lens, which bears the name of Zeiss and certainly not cheap. Did not disappoint, but compared pułka to 800 EUR cheaper Nikon, pułka and nepetičnega for the average user, rather nearacionalen purchase. Quality Unsharp is excellent in the photo, pułka where I compared the two lens clearly shows that the transitions between sharpness and neostrino slightly more likeable in Zeissu, the same is true for only neostrino, which the Zeiss also somewhat more peaceful. In the quality of sharpness and contrast, the Nikon despite a much lower cost, much more convincing. Otherwise, the Zeiss does not disappoint, but the difference is visible especially at the edges where the Nikon visibly better. CA also, in certain cases quite troublesome, especially when shooting against the light and the aperture is f1.4. Recently, the Zeissu announced a new series of lenses, which were to be constructed for the latest DSLR cameras that boast higher density format on the sensors. To be sure, the Zeiss 85mm f1.4 is an excellent lens, which is more than can also be used at open aperture. His attributes are mainly in the manufacture of high quality and tradition and the name behind the lens. Given the quality of sharpness and contrast, it is nevertheless important to note that here are some resins Zeiss, Nikon because it managed to make a remarkable lens in this price range can not be compared to any others, including most of the more expensive lenses, especially those a little older does not have to Nikon realistic possibilities in terms of quality of sharpness and contrast.
Aperture f4 far as images.

Summary: Considering the price could be a little more convincing optics at open aperture. Quite a few CA's and the softness is detected at aperture f1.4 in terms of build quality, this lens is excellent.
